Legal#

Two of the three documents a software product is sold under do not exist. This section says so rather than inventing them.

• Terms of service — placeholder. None exist.
• Licence agreement — placeholder. What ships is a stopgap that says in its own first paragraph that it has not been through legal review.

What is settled today#

The grant that ships with the package is one paragraph, and it is worth reading in the form it actually takes:

Wheelhouse is proprietary software. You may run this copy on the system it was supplied for. Copying, redistribution, modification and reverse engineering are not permitted except where the law says otherwise, or where a separate written agreement says otherwise.

Nothing in it applies to the third-party components in an image. Those keep their own licences, which are reproduced in full rather than summarised — on the installed system, in the package's copyright file, and in the wiki.

The parts Wheelhouse wrote are the agent, the web interface and the installer. They are proprietary and are licensed, not sold. They are separate programs from the GPL software they drive.

Trademarks#

VyOS is a registered trademark of Sentrium S.L. Wheelhouse is not affiliated with, endorsed by, certified by or supported by the VyOS project or Sentrium S.L. Images are self-built and rebranded per upstream's trademark policy, with attribution intact.

Every other product name on this site — OPNsense, pfSense, MikroTik, RouterOS, UniFi, FreeBSD, Debian and the rest — belongs to its own owner and is used only to describe what that product does.

The GPL source offer#

The corresponding source for every GPL and LGPL component of an image is published beside that image at releases.rhymelikedi.me, which is how GPLv2 section 3(a) is satisfied. There is no written offer to send away for; the source is already there. About has the detail.
